This is the mix room at Loud Attic, my new home since July 2010, located in the heart of Gothenburg, Sweden. For the previous ten years, I worked out of my studio in New York City.

This was my old studio in New York. The way it was setup was the culmination of years and years of changes, additions, modifications and adjustments. Packing it all up was a very emotional experience…

The new space was quaint but definitely needed some work done to it. Since we work with music rather than play chess, the floor was first on the agenda:

Since I share the studio with a vocal coach and a music producer, next up was building a vocal booth. That gray piece on the bottom of the booth is a material called fiber cement. It’s as heavy as stone and we have about 1500 pounds of it under the studio floor.

My beloved gear finally arrived after over a month at sea. From the look of things I was expecting some damage, but miraculously, everything was intact. The only problem was fitting it all in the elevator…

With the new floors and the vocal booth completed, the look of the studio came out much better than what I expected. Having the screen in the vocal booth is great and the shelves for the rear speakers looks awesome.

Finally I had big bass again and my air-remote to control it all. And as you can see, I’m a one fader man…

That’s it. I’m open for business again.
